ARTSN Returns and Refund Policy

We stand behind the quality and craftsmanship of every ARTSN board. Because each piece is handcrafted from single-piece solid wood using traditional techniques, natural variations in grain, color, and texture are features, not defects.

POLICIES

Returns (Unused Products)

Within 30 days of delivery for unused, regular-priced items in original condition.

To initiate a return:

  1. Email hello@artsn.com with your order number
  2. Provide photos of the item
  3. We'll send return instructions

Return eligibility:

  • ✓ Regular-priced items, unused and undamaged
  • ✗ Sale or discounted items
  • ✗ Custom or personalized orders
  • ✗ Items outside 30-day window
  • ✗ Used products (hygiene/food safety)

Damaged in Shipping

If your board arrives damaged, contact us within 7 days of delivery with:

  • Order number
  • Photos of damage
  • Photos of packaging (if possible)

We'll replace it or refund in full - your choice. We cover all shipping costs for shipping damage.

Refunds

Approved refunds are processed within 2-3 business days of receiving your return.

Refund calculation:

  • Product price minus $20 shipping cost (actual cost we incurred)
  • Return shipping at your expense
  • Use tracked shipping (we're not responsible for lost returns)

If your order had "free shipping," the $20 shipping cost is deducted from your refund.

Defective Products (Unused - Before First Use)

If your board arrives defective or you notice a defect before using it, we'll replace it or provide a full refund - your choice.

Timeline: Within 30 days of delivery

What's covered:

  • Board arrived damaged in shipping
  • Cracks or structural damage visible on arrival
  • Warp >5mm that causes board to wobble/spin
  • Handle defects or breaks
  • Char rubbing off from handling (not cutting)
  • Visible production defects (sawdust trapped in grain, glue, fillers)
  • Significant aesthetic defects (large light patches, stains that look like repairs)

Defective Products (Used - After First Use)

If your board develops a defect after you've started using it, we'll replace it.

Timeline: Within 30 days of delivery

What's covered:

  • Handle breaks during normal use
  • Board develops structural cracks
  • Excessive wear after minimal use (suggests inadequate charring)
  • Warp >5mm that developed after arrival and causes board to wobble/spin

What's NOT covered (these are normal):

  • Carbon particles from knife cuts: Small black carbon particles released when cutting. Completely safe. Reduces with sharp knives and regular oiling.
  • Knife marks showing wood underneath: Brown teakwood shows through black char where you cut. This is normal wear. Board develops character over time.
  • Minor warp <5mm: Single-piece wood responds to environment. Should stabilize under cutting pressure.
  • Natural patina development: Board ages and develops character with use.
  • Damage from misuse: Soaking, dishwasher, heat exposure, improper storage.

Resolution:

  • Replacement only (not refund) - since board has been used for food preparation
  • No return required - you can keep the used board

  • Order number
  • Photos showing the issue
  • How long you've been using the board
  • Brief description of what happened

After 30 Days

Manufacturing defects that appear after 30 days are assessed case-by-case.

What may be covered:

  • Clear production defects (handle breaks, structural cracks, char wasn't sealed properly)
  • Excessive wear suggesting inadequate charring (within first 60 days)

What's NOT covered:

  • Environmental damage (warping from climate, humidity changes)
  • Wear from improper care (soaking, dishwasher, not oiling)
  • Normal aging and character development
  • Minor warp that developed over time

  • Photos showing the issue
  • Purchase date and timeline of when issue appeared
  • Description of how you've been caring for the board

We'll assess and determine if the issue is covered.

Studio Samples

All sales final - no returns or exchanges.

Samples are sold as-is with unique characteristics. All purchases final.

Exception: If sample arrives structurally defective, we'll provide store credit. No return required.
