A single piece of hardwood, hand-charred using Yakisugi - the Japanese technique of preserving wood through fire.

The charring isn't decorative. It hardens the surface, draws out the grain, and creates a natural carbon layer that repels water, resists bacteria, and doesn't stain. The board gets better with use, not worse.

40 x 20cm. The middle of the range in every sense - enough surface for proper cooking, compact enough to handle easily. The board you reach for every day without thinking about it.

    Love my Shou Sugi Ban boards

    I bought the Shou Sugi Ban two board set. They are easy to clean and it doesn’t damage our knives. They are not heavy so easy to carry with food on. I like them so much I have bought more as a present.

    Beautiful

    We ordered a couple of boards not only because they are hand made and we appreciate fine workmanship, but because they are a non toxic way to help with our food prep. We love them and look forward to seeing the patina develop from daily use in our kitchen.

    Unusual wedding present

    I sourced this board on behalf of friends for a newly married couple who love good food, enjoy cooking and trying new recipes and use Japanese knives in their kitchen. It looks beautiful and they were blown away by its looks and functionality. Hopefully it will give them great service for years to come.

    Great Value for a Premium Board

    The wood grain is beautiful. I was amazed at how it was gentle on my knives and easy to clean. What I also love about it is that is both stylish and functional. Definitely an added plus. I'm not adding any photos because the ones on website are much better than mine would ever be.

    One other thing, best customer service EVER!
