Product Description
Product Description
"A Connection to Heritage" in Japanese
A single piece of hardwood, hand-charred using Yakisugi - the Japanese technique of preserving wood through fire.
The charring isn't decorative. It hardens the surface, draws out the grain, and creates a natural carbon layer that repels water, resists bacteria, and doesn't stain.
45 x 25cm with a rounded end. Shaped for the things that don't fit standard boards - baguettes, whole fish, asparagus, long cuts of cured meat. The rounded end works as a grip when you carry it from counter to table.

The Proof
The Water Test
Same water. Same pour. Completely different result.
Regular Wood
Absorbs. Stains. Warps.
Water penetrates the surface, carrying bacteria deep into the grain where cleaning can't reach.
ARTSN — Fire-Treated
Repels. Beads. Protects.
Water can't penetrate the charred carbon surface. It beads into perfect spheres and rolls away. No staining. No bacteria entry.
Our Story
Our limited collection of handcrafted, Japanese-inspired cutting boards have been created in partnership with skilled artisans—real people dedicated to crafting products that bring connection, functionality and beauty to your kitchen.
Shou Sugi Ban
Shou Sugi Ban, a traditional Japanese wood preservation technique, involves carefully charring the surface of wood to enhance its durability and beauty.
This age-old technique not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also ensures that our cutting boards are exceptionally durable, hygienic, and ideal for the demands of modern kitchens.
Sustainable
Our process begins with responsibly sourced timber and reclaimed logs, carefully cut into smaller blocks. Through expert craftsmanship, these blocks are transformed into beautiful boards, each piece telling the story of sustainability and an artisans craft.

I received two boards for my 50th birthday off my sister, they are like nothing I've ever seen before. The black burnt finish is fantastic, water just rolls off after washing.

I have been using a board from this company for a few weeks now and it is a wonderful product.
I cook a lot and have gone through so many boards over the years including the plastic ones.
Usually they end up warping or becoming a hygiene menace but the process that is used to blacken these boards will go a long way to solving these problems.
It does cost more than the supermarket variety, true but what it gives you in return is a quality product that does what it says.
Highly recommend.

Using this board brings an experience beyond the usual. It is so aesthetically pleasing to have in my kitchen and to use. It’s also kind to my knives, satisfying to clean and retains less odor than other boards. It’s a beautiful functional object that I get to enjoy every day.
